Two headmasters and a middleman were taken into custody on Saturday in Patna for their alleged involvement in the recruitment of phony teachers in Samastipur. The arrests followed an inquiry conducted by a four-member committee established by Samastipur DM Yogendra Singh. The detained individuals are Dilip Ram, headmaster of Purushottampur Primary School; Avinash Kumar Tandon, headmaster of Navtolia Primary School; and middleman Parvez Alam. They were apprehended in the Town police station area. A police source indicated that a significant deception transpired at Navtolia Primary School. Subsequent to uncovering the sham recruitments, numerous teachers are being investigated, with 12 reportedly on the run. According to police reports, bogus teachers were illicitly appointed instead of authentic candidates chosen through the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC), by tampering during the counseling process. DM Yogendra Singh stated, "Complaints were filed regarding false recruitments in BPSC TRE-2.0. Once the list of successful BPSC examinees was published and their credentials verified, their biometric thumbprints were collected. Despite this, certain education department staff unlawfully engaged fraudulent teachers using the roll numbers and candidate IDs of the selected BPSC teacher candidates who did not assume their roles." The DM highlighted that a four-member committee was instituted on September 7 to investigate the case. Based on the committee's findings, the headmasters and a middleman were arrested. An individual named Ranjana Kumari at Purushottam Primary School was identified as a sham teacher. Moreover, the appointments of teachers Nikhat Parveen and Tanuja Kumari at the same school are presently under scrutiny. The initial discovery of fraudulent recruitment was made at this particular school, as reported by an official from the Town police station.
